What is pregabalin?

Pregabalin like gabapentin is an anti-convulsant anti-epileptic medication used to prevent seizures in people with epilepsy and help ease pain and also it is often prescribed for fibromyalgia. It is also used to treat nerve pain in people with diabetes.

Contra-indications

You should tell your doctor if you have :

  • Mood disorders
  • Depression
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Drug or alcohol addiction
  • Low levels of platelets in your blood
  • Bleeding disorders
  • Heart problems
  • Kidney disease
  • Diabetes but does say you can if using it for diabetic neuropathy
  • Severe allergic reactions

Also like gabapentin another one of the unwanted side effects of pregabalin is weight gain, people taking pregabalin are seeing huge increases of weight in short amount of time, like gabapentin its said it is due to the medication making you more hungry, but people are reporting weight gain even when nothing has changed in their diet.
